Application
MARATHON CWS
components are
designed for application using airless spray equipment in order to
achieve the required uniform high film build. Use minimum 2,000 psi
fluid pressure, 30 mesh in-line filters and a .017" to .025" spray
tip. Brush or roller may also be used for touch-up, edging work
or small areas unsuitable for spray applications. United
recommends that the
MARATHON CWS
system be installed
by Certified Contractors.
Apply
using multi-directional spray passes to assure positive coverage.
On applications requiring two or more coats, subsequent coats should
be applied in a direction perpendicular to the previous coat after it
has dried. All surfaces must be uniformly coated and free from
voids, pinholes or blisters.
For
issuance of the 10-Year No-Peel Warranty, the
MARATHON CWS
must be applied by a Certified Contractor. Apply
one (1) coat of
MARATHON CWS Sealer
at the rate of 150 to 250 sq. ft. per gallon (3.6 to 6.1 m2/l),
depending on the surface porosity. Once the Sealer has dried, apply
one (1) coat of
MARATHON CWS
Topcoat
at the rate of 100 to 150 sq. ft. per gallon (2.4 t o 3.6 m2/l).
This will result in a total dry film thickness of 9 mils. The minimum
thickness required at any location shall be dry 7 mils (178 microns).
Refer
to
MARATHON CWS
Technical Data & Application Instructions for detailed information on
topcoat application.
Use of
water and (UCC) or other similar biodegradable detergent to
thoroughly flush equipment. Purge the water from the system
using Mineral Sprits or Glycol Ether. Leave the solvent in the
lines and equipment until the next use. It is not recommended to
leave
MARATHON CWS
components in the
pumps or hoses.
