The Coating for Southwestern Living
Spokane, Washington-based United
Coatings Manufacturing Company has unveiled a new technology - an
architectural coating system that reflects infra red as radiant heat
via the use of ceramic particles that come together as the coating
film dries to create a protective barrier.
The Marathon CWS Coating
System is a two-coat system consisting of Marathon Clear Sealer,
and Marathon CWS topcoat. The clear sealer acts like a glue to
lock down the surface, creating adhesion three times stronger than
standard acrylic latex products. With 700% elongation, the
sealer effectively fills and bridges hairline cracks, restoring the
appearance of distressed concrete, stucco, and wood surfaces.
The topcoat adheres aggressively
t0 the sealer, and with 350% elongation, is also capable of filling
and bridging cracks, and restoring distressed surfaces. The
ceramic particulate in the topcoat reflects up to 90% of the suns
harmful rays, reducing surface and interior temperatures as well as
greatly limiting thermal movement, which is a major contributor to
cracking and peeling paint.
The Marathon CWS system
formulated with a 100% acrylic resin that United Coatings has used
successfully for many years on millions of square feet of commercial
and industrial roof coating and waterproofing applications.
Marathon Coatings are not
available at retail stores or paint stores. The coatings are
sold exclusively through a network of certified applicators, and are
backed by a comprehensive ten-year warranty that covers both material
and labor.
